"32 diag. Tau Series? HDTV Monitor/Receiver, Light Gray finish * HDTV Monitor (1080i, 480p) Some Panasonic televisions double as HDTV monitors enabling you to hookup digital component video inputs (Y, Pr, Pb) to the unit for viewing of high-definition programming broadcasts. In order to view HDTV programming, the TV must be connected to a DTV (digital TV) set-top box and switched to DTV mode. A DTV signal must be present in your area and the set-top box must be tuned to the proper channel. An external over- the-air antenna may be required. * Progressive Scan Doubler Displays a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second by de-interlacing the incoming video signal and progressively scanning the image. With progressive scanning, you generally won't see the horizontal scan lines that are often visible in ordinary TV images. * Progressive Cinema Scan When 480i video is converted to progressive scan (480p), artifacts remain. Progressive cinema scan circuitry, by contrast, converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of the film for a more faithful movie reproduction. * Component Video Inputs On HDTV TV's component video inputs provide outstanding resolution and color accuracy of video images from a variety of sources, including DVD players. By keeping the Y, Pr, Pb of the video image perfectly intact during the transmission process, the highest possible picture quality is maintained. * Color Transient Improvement Minimizes color smear at the edges of television images to assure clear, distinct colors. * ID-1 Detection (for Anamorphic DVD) ID-1 signal in the vertical blanking interval of anamorphic DVD software is used to control the size and aspect ratio of the displayed picture. ID-1 detection identifies the presence of the ID-1 signal and automa- tically changes the picture to the proper size and ratio for optimum viewing. * Motion Vector Detection (Digital Motion Reality) In the process of converting from interlaced to progressively scanned images, motion vector detection greatly improves the conventional soft focus problem encountered with moving pictures. It creates a virtual still picture by combining 2 moving picture fields and processing them as one still picture, using a unique algorithm developed by Panasonic. * Velocity Modulated Scan Senses transitions from dark-to-light in the video signal and controls the speed of the black-and-white portions of the signal to achieve sharp dark-to-light transitions and outstanding edge definition. * Video Noise Reduction Reduces luminance (black & white) noise, which is commonly called 'snow'.* Color Temperature Control Allows you to adjust the while balance toward either blue (colder) or red (warmer). * 2-Tuner Picture-In-Picture with Channel Search With two built-in tuners you can watch two TV programs simultaneously. You can swap the main screen and the inset picture at the touch of a button. During a channel search, P-I-P scans the available channels in the inset picture. You can also use this feature to search the favorite channel memory. * Split Screen Display Divides the screen in half down the middle, allowing you to view two programs at full height simultaneously. * A/V Program Out Jacks Lets you connect you?re A/V sources directly to audio and video circuits of the TV set, bypassing the tuner for optimum picture reproduction. The video input is composite video. * 2 UHF/VHF Inputs * PureFlat Picture Tube Delivers richly detailed images with incredible depth from corner to corner. Unlike regular curved screens, the PureFlat screen produces no reflections or distortions, so you can enjoy distraction-free TV viewing no matter where you sit in the room. * Dome Sound System Offers high quality audio performance and contributes to a space-saving cabinet design. The sound is fired through slim speaker openings on either side of the picture, while facilitating placement of the TV in a wall unit. The wide separation of the speakers provides excellent stereo imaging. * Center Channel Input Using the special speaker terminal input, the television can be used as the center speaker for Dolby Pro-Logic surround sound systems. * Vertical Edge Correction The vertical edge correction circuit works in conjunction with the digital comb filter to sharpen the horizontal edges of objects in the picture. * Horizontal Edge Correction Helps sharpen the edges of objects in the picture. It works in conjunction with the dynamic sharpness control and velocity modulated scan to help produce clean, crisp television images and reduce the unwanted effects of video noise. * Wide Band Video Amplifier As standard video amplifiers increase the gain of the video signal, video bandwidth tends to decrease it. This eliminates higher frequencies, reducing resolution. A wide-band video amplifier maintains higher frequencies, enabling higher resolution. * Invar Shadow Mask Most picture tubes use standard shadow masks made of steel, which can expand under intense heat. Expansion of the shadow mask causes picture discoloration, often called doming. But Invar shadow masks are made of a compound of iron and nickel, rendering them extremely heat-resistant. This high thermal tolerance eliminates doming and allows the tube to operate at a higher voltage, producing brighter whites, higher contrast, and purer colors. COMMON FEATURES- * Fine Pitch Picture Tube Has smaller, more tightly spaced phosphor dots than normal picture tubes to enable an image with much finer detail. * 3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter This advanced filter analyzes sequential fields of information to eliminate dot crawl and color bleed. Additionally, the 3D Y/C Comb Filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flicker, in complex or intricately detailed scenes. * Stereo/SAP/dbx Noise Reduction The built-in stereo decoder can receive both TV stereo and Separate Audio Program (SAP) telecasts where available. A dbx noise reduction system helps provide clear, crisp sound with proper stereo separation. * Bass/Treble/Balance Controls * Artificial Intelligence Sound Control Controls the volume level automatically to prevent wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming. * Spatializer 3D Surround Sound A stereo enhancement technology that creates an enveloping, 3-dimensional surround sound experience from just two speakers. * Closed Captioning (on Mute) This feature automatically displays captioned information (if available) on-screen when the MUTE button is pressed. Captions disappear when the volume is restored. * Trilingual On-Screen Display All TV functions can be easily accessed using the remote control and the on-screen display. This full-featured system can be operated in English, French, or Spanish. By using the four cursor buttons on the remote control, your favorite features or settings are only a click away.* Auto Programmable Scan Automatically scans all available channels-from regular antenna or cable- and programs only active broadcast stations into memory. * Clock * Sleep Timer The Sleep Timer allows you to fall asleep watching TV and have the TV turn itself off. * 800 Lines of Video Resolution * 181 Channel Tuner * 2 Speakers with 15 watts/channel * Auto Power On * A/V Input Jacks (1 front/3 rear) Lets you connect you?re A/V sources directly to audio and video circuits of the TV set, bypassing the tuner for optimum picture reproduction. The video input is composite video. * A/V Program Out Jacks Lets you connect you?re A/V sources directly to audio and video circuits of the TV set, bypassing the tuner for optimum picture reproduction. The video input is composite video. * S-Video Input Jack (1 front/2 rear) Provides a superior connection for a DBS (Digital Broadcast Satellite) system or DVD player over regular A/V inputs jacks. S-Video inputs connect directly to the luminance and chrominance circuits of the TV. By keeping color and luminance information separate, cross-color inter- ference is virtually eliminated from the picture. * Stereo Headphone Jack Allows you to connect optional stereo headphones. The mini-jack configuration accepts either 8-ohm or 16-ohm mini-plug headphones. * Fixed and Variable Audio Output Fixed outputs provide a fixed level audio signal that can be connected to an A/V receiver. This connection will bypass the volume and tone controls of the TV's audio circuit. Variable outputs let you take advantage of an external stereo system, and you can adjust the volume level (and tone, if available) through the TV remote control. * Lighted Universal Remote * Game Guard Enables the user to lock out channels 3 & 4 and all video inputs for 12, 24, or 48 hours, preventing video games and other video sources from being displayed on the television. * Programmable On/Off Timer Allows you to program your TV set to turn itself on and off at a selected channel and at designated times every day. You can alert yourself to the start of a desired program by having the TV come on with sufficient volume to attract your attention. Or you can fall asleep and rest assured that the TV will turn itself off at the proper time. * Recall/Rapid Tune * Parental Guidance Control The Channel Lock and Game Guard functions let parents control TV use and prevent video games and other video sources from being displayed on the TV. You can lock out up to 4 channels, all channels plus all video inputs, or channels 3 & 4 plus all video inputs for either 12, 24 or 48 hours. With Channel Lock, a user-programmed 3-digit code must be entered to deactivate the feature. * Video Input Labeling Allows you to name each of your video inputs by choosing from a menu of name choices (e.g. VCR, DVD, TV, etc.). * Energy Star Compliant Consumes less energy than similar standard products."
